Celtic handed extra incentive for Champions League tie

|

Celtic will be focused on league matters for the first time this season this weekend as they take on St Johnstone at Paradise on Saturday afternoon.

It’s a good chance for the Hoops to see where they are in relation to the competition this year for the first time and I would expect us to get off to a good start as we look to rein in nine in a row.

However, we also have Champions League football to think about this month and if there wasn’t incentive enough to beat Cluj over the two legs already, we’ve been given extra motivation to do so.

Indeed, as quoted by the Sun, Cluj figure Ionut Rada has had this to say about the Hoops ahead of the fixture:

“Everyone seems to be scared of Celtic, but why? They are a team who use their aggression. That’s their only weapon.

“If Cluj want to mix it up and fight with Celtic, they will lose. But they won’t. Dan Petrescu is too smart for that.

“Celtic remain a big name, but the Scottish League is weak and have no important teams in it anymore.”

That is surely Neil Lennon’s team talk sorted.

You can bet we’re up for this tie with Cluj and if they’re going to underestimate us like that then they can do so at their own peril.
