Former Celtic winger Patrick Roberts is still a much-wanted man this summer despite failing to move clubs before the end of the English transfer window.

The Manchester City man was a deadline day target for Huddersfield Town last week, but a move to join up with David Wagner’s side failed to materialise.

If Celtic hoped that may open the door for them to swoop him and bring him to Scotland again, they thought wrong, with four European top-flight clubs interested in signing him this August.

That’s according to The Sun, who say that Bordeaux, Rennes, St Etienne and Girona all interested in his services, all teams that can offer football at a higher level than the Scottish Premiership.

Still just 21 years of age, £6.75m-rated Roberts has little chance of making a Man City breakthrough, but still has the potential to play at a high level, perhaps ruling Celtic out of the running.

He scored 18 goals and created 26 assists in 78 appearances for the Hoops and a return would likely go down very well with supporters, but the chances of him arriving in Glasgow before the end of August appear to be slim.
