Celtic in hunt for £5m-rated attacker during January transfer window

|

Celtic are interested in signing Houston Dynamo forward Alberth Elis, according to website Football Insider.

The Hoops have already added Oliver Burke, Timothy Weah and Vakoun Issouf Bayo to Brendan Rodgers’ first-team this January, with Marian Shved looking like he is also on his way to Glasgow.

However, with Burke and Weah only at the club on short-term deals there is scope to add to the squad with a long-term view.

Football Insider say that the Hoops are battling with West Bromwich Albion for Elis’ signature, with his MLS side rating him as worth £5m.

A 31-cap Honduran international, he certainly appears to fit the bill in terms of the quality we’re looking for, having emerged as one of the top talents in America over the last two years.

The right-winger has scored 22 goals for Houston Dynamo over the last two seasons, also chipping in with 15 assists in that time. That’s the kind of attacking contribution that would excite supporters should he sign up at Celtic Park.

Still just 22 years old, he has the potential to improve further too.

A move to Europe looks to be on the cards and Celtic should certainly be throwing their hat in the ring for the player, given his potential Scottish Premiership impact and re-sale value.
