Celtic interested in £9m-rated potential Mikael Lustig replacement

|

Celtic have again been linked with a move for Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The paper say that the Belgian international’s contract expires at the end of next season, potentially reducing his asking price this summer.

His current market value is as much as £9m according to Transfermarkt.

The player was reportedly a January transfer target and it appears our interest hasn’t cooled as we look for a replacement for Mikael Lustig and Jeremy Toljan, both of whom could leave the club at the end of the season.

Lustig’s contract expires, with the Hoops yet to decide whether to extend it, with Toljan due to return to parent club Borussia Dortmund.

The position is a real priority for whoever takes charge of the club this summer and fans will be anxious to see whether the recruitment team at Celtic Park can pull a quality signing like Castagne out of the bag.

He’s won 4 caps with a talented Belgium side and this season has impressed in Serie A, scoring three goals and assisting five times in 31 appearances, showing versatility by playing on each flank.
