Celtic are interested in signing Bolton Wanderers youngster Ronan Darcy, according to The Scotsman.
The paper say the 18-year-old forward is interesting a host of English Premier League clubs after impressive performances in the FA Youth Cup, with Chelsea particular admirers of his talents.
The player made his senior debut for Bolton this season as a result of his form in youth matches.
The Stamford Bridge side are currently under a transfer embargo, paving the way for the Hoops to complete a bargain deal for the Bolton prospect.
Cross-border transfer rules means the compensation we would have to pay the struggling English side for his signature is much less than clubs down south.
Obviously a move for Darcy wouldn’t necessarily impact the first-team this summer, but attracting the best available young talent on offer, especially when big clubs are interested, is a smart strategy before the develop further and become unattainable.
Hopefully we can convince the prospect his future is best served by moving to Glasgow.
