According to the Scottish Sun, Celtic have decided to cancel Danny Simpson’s trial with the club and will now not be making any move for the right back.
The Bhoys are in need of extra defensive recruitments this transfer window and at right-back things are perhaps most alarming.
With Mikael Lustig, Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan all leaving from that area it is clear we are short and the Hoops need to address that as soon as possible.
As per this report, though, Danny Simpson will not be the man to come in and help us out.
The former Premier League winner and Leicester City defender is a free agent at the moment after being released by the Foxes at the end of last season.
He’ll have to look elsewhere for employment for the new campaign, though, with the Bhoys deciding that he is not for us.
A shame, but perhaps it makes sense given his age as he won’t be a long-term option.
