Let’s get this out of the way from the off. I can’t stand Simon Jordan or Talksport.

Not the person, but the DJ that seems to take a swing at Scottish football at every opportunity he can.

In fact, how many times do we listen to any program on that show and they run down our game by making daft comparisons to the EPL when, clearly, both leagues have a completely different make up, funding and quality of player.

It smacks of wee guy syndrome.

But on this occasion, I feel I need to give Jordan praise where it is due.

Grudgingly, of course.

Jordan was referencing the Ange to Leeds links on his radio show when he detailed the reasons why Ange would not take the vacant job at this time.

Speaking on Talksport via Birmingham Live, Jordan said, “The tragedy for Scottish football is that managers see Rangers and Celtic as a stepping stone.

“As soon as grown-up clubs from the English Premier League come calling, they want to make the jump, like Steven Gerrard did.

“I think Postecoglou is a bit different though. He doesn’t have the same relationship with the Premier League.

“He’ll have got the memo about it being the best league in the world, but he seems to have a backbone and integrity.”

I know! I said it! Simon Jordan is correct. It’s undeniable though.

Postecoglou is a man of principles. He consistently speaks of seeing through the project he is building at Celtic till the end and, up until now, the Celtic boss has not even scratched the surface of the potential of his side.

Ange is going nowhere. He won’t slip out the backdoor like other managers have done and when he does decide to leave, he will go with the blessings of every single Celtic fan.

To be fair to Jordan he has ALWAYS said Ange Postecoglou was the real deal. Even at the start of last season when 11 points were dropped fromt he first 7 games as he struggled to get a squad together Jordan recognised he was a man (and manager) of substance and not a bluffer like so many others we could name. I think Jordan is always informed ,knowledgeable and impartial….unlike White, Murphy and Keown who he shares a program with.
