Celtic goalkeeping legend, Packie Bonner, has said that young Celtic goalkeeping rookie, Conor Hazard, must be given the No1 jersey this season.
Bonner has said that he is a big fan of the young Northern Irishman and that Celtic need to stop chopping and changing their goalkeeping selections to allow a bond and understanding to brew between the back four and the man between the sticks.
The legendary keeper was talking to a Scottish media outlet when he said, “I would love to see them giving a chance to Conor Hazard, just to see what he could do over the next three or four months.
“See how he does and then make the big decision in the summer as to whether they need to go after someone again or not.
“The problem is, if you don’t play Barkas and he doesn’t get the opportunity to make the saves they paid £5m for, then you are never going to know what he might be able to do.
“That’s the dilemma Celtic have just now. You can’t keep swapping your keepers around.
“You can’t keep playing Hazard one week and Barkas another. It doesn’t help the back four either.”
Hazard became an instant hero earlier in the season when a penalty shoot out save helped win last seasons Scottish Cup for the Hoops to seal the Quadruple Treble.
