Celtic linked with 37-year-old manager ahead of big summer decision

|

Celtic have been linked with a move for Preston North End manager Alex Neil by The Birmingham Mail.

The paper say West Bromwich Albion have emerged as contenders to appoint the 37-year-old as their new manager following the departure of Darren Moore, but that Celtic are also interested in the services of the Championship boss.

Neil Lennon has been given the job at Celtic Park until the end of the season but a section of the support have concerns he might not be the prime candidate to lead the club forward into a nine-in-a-row push.

The opinion on Lennon will likely settle around whether the team can win a treble of trophies this season, but the reports surrounding Alex Neil are certainly interesting.

He’s doing a great job at Preston currently and until very recently they were amongst the front runners to make the promotion playoffs in the division.

Having previously guided Norwich City to the Premier League and done a fantastic job with Hamilton in Scotland, he is one of the outstanding realistic candidates who could take charge at Celtic Park.

Peter Lawwell, Dermot Desmond and the rest of the board at the club have a massive decision to make this summer and it’s one they must get right.
