This certainly has been a day for transfer stories.

Close season is like that though. As soon as the final whistle blows, attention moves to the transfer window.

It’s not even the end of May yet and we’ve had countless Jota and CCV stories coupled with Mohanad Jeahze and Ola Solbakken it seems as though this summer is going to be the busiest yet for Celtic.

There have been many suggestions as to what positions Celtic will look to add strength to and with rumours that Chris Jullien could be set for a summer exit, the centre of defence may become a position of priority regardless of whether CCV signs on or not.

A report in the Manchester Evening News has linked Celtic with a move for £6m rated Japanese defender Ko Itakura.

The Japan international was heavily linked with a move to Paradise earlier in the season but, instead, chose a loan move to second tier Bundesliga side Schalke.

After helping the side win promotion to the German top division, it was thought that the move could become permanent but now it seems Schalke have baulked at the asking price for Itakura and the Manchester Evening Post claims that this has ‘alerted’ Celtic and Freiburg to the availability of the Japanese star.

We all know our links to Japan. We all know our links to The City Group.

If we can use these to capture Itakura this could be seen as another transfer coup by Postecoglou.

Has bizarre social media post unwittingly confirmed popular Celtic signing?
