Celtic have been scouting Le Havre defender Harold Moukoudi and could make a late transfer window move for the 20-year-old, according to The Scottish Sun.

With Jozo Simunovic and Jack Hendry injured, question marks about Kristoffer Ajer’s consistency and the future of Dedryck Boyata unclear, the Hoops are under real pressure to make a quality defensive signing in the final week of the transfer window.

That signing could be Moukoudi, say The Scottish Sun, who report that the 6ft 3in Frenchman would cost at least £5m in today’s market.

They also reckon that the French club expect to sell the player before Friday’s deadline, with Middlesbrough also showing recent interest.

There’s no doubting that defensive signings are what fans want to see in the closing days of the window and with time running out on the club, can they now get a deal for a player like Moukoudi over the line?

If a centre-back or two does not arrive, the majority of fans will be incredibly upset and perhaps add to the recent feeling of disenchantment with what’s going on at the club this summer.

The decision makers at Celtic Park need to make a statement and freshen Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
