Celtic looking for a miracle – Lennon

Manager Neil Lennon conceded Celtic will “need a miracle” to overturn a 3-0 home defeat to Juventus from their Champions League first-leg tie at Parkhead.

“We need a miracle. It’s the harsh reality of football at this level” – Neil Lennon

Goals from Alessandro Matri, Claudio Marchisio and Mirko Vucinic earned the visitors a huge advantage going into the return game.

“We know it’s a daunting prospect going to Turin at any stage and a 3-0 deficit is almost insurmountable,” Lennon admitted to BBC Scotland. “We need a miracle. It’s the harsh reality of football at this level.

“We obviously didn’t get off to a great start but our reaction from losing the goal was fantastic,” he continued. “For 70 or 80 minutes we were on the front foot, we were the better side and pressured Juventus into making mistakes.”

The two sides contest the second-leg at the Juventus Stadium in Turin in just over three weeks time.
