As quoted by the Zimbabwean Standard, Kundai Benyu has thrown to the gauntlet and said that he aims to be playing more first-team football for the Hoops next season.

The youngster moved out on loan last year but failed to really make an impression and is back with us for pre-season as he looks to kick-start his career.

It looks as though he is aiming to break into the first team in 2018/19 as much as possible, too, with him saying this about his recent work so far:

“Given time, working as hard as I can in training and listening to the gaffer and his advice, I think I’ll be able to get in the team as much as I can.”

The Verdict

He seems a good kid that is willing to work but I think we’ll have to be patient with him before he breaks into the side – if he does at all.

There’s plenty of players ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment and, though he is young, many of them aren’t exactly approaching their twilight years.
