With cheer in midweek as Celtic secured progression through to the next round of the Europa League despite suffering a defeat to RB Salzburg, it was disappointment again for fans at the weekend as we dropped to a 2-0 defeat to Hibernian and we slip to third place in the Premiership table.

Speaking ahead of that game on Sunday, Sky Sports quoted gaffer Brendan Rodgers as saying that ideally he will be able to sign two strikers in the January window to bolster our chances in 2018/19 and also to obviously provide additional cover.

Frenchman Odsonne Edouard is his option after we lost Moussa Dembele over the summer, and Leigh Griffiths’ who is taking some time out of the game for personal reasons, so his reveal isn’t that surprising in reality.

“We might need two in January because we want three strikers. We know we can’t go through the number of games we have at the intensity we play at with the same striker. It’s something we’ll definitely look at. It’s always been a focus but Leigh’s situation narrows it.”

With his desire confirmed though, it will definitely spark additional rumour mill talk as the New Year nears, so the question turns to which two players?
