Celtic manager latest – New favourite emerges, talks planned that could open door for Hoops move

|

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is now the bookmakers favourite to become Celtic manager, as reported this morning by The Scottish Sun.

The paper say his odds of replacing Neil Lennon are now as low as 5/4 at major bookies like Paddy Power and Sky Bet, pointing towards a trend in betting over the last few days that is definitely in favour of Spaniard’s arrival in Glasgow.

They also report that there are growing fears inside St James’ Park that he could end up leaving the Magpies this summer, despite contract talks being planned over the next few days.

Those talks going badly could pave the way for the former Real Madrid and Liverpool boss to make the switch to Celtic Park, although his deal doesn’t expire until June 30th.

Of all the names mentioned so far nobody has quite unified the support as much as Benitez, with many desperate to see him somehow end up at Celtic Park.

Despite all the speculation it does seem rather unlikely, though the same could have been said of Brendan Rodgers prior to his appointment in 2016.

We’re certainly in for an exciting and dramatic few weeks however it pans out.
