The best thing about the rumour linking Celtic with a move for Newcastle’s Michael Owen was Keep The Faith quoting a source at the club as saying it was “bollocks”.

Whether the News of the World’s source for the story was also an employee of Celtic Football Club is a question that is unlikely to ever be answered, but the fact the rumour appeared within hours of the loss at Ibrox may point to something.

In other news, the SFA are to study video football of the tackle made my Glenn Loovens on Maurice Edu. No doubt the SFA will find Loovens guilty for crimes against humanity and ban him for five years while turning a blind eye to the actions of other teams and their fans.

An SFA spokesman said: “This incident will be looked at and then the referee will be asked for his opinion. If the referee missed the incident, and it requires further investigation, it will go to the Review Panel.”

In the meantime, there is a league title to be won. Or, in fact, a league title to wait for another team to lose. But it’s not worth giving up – this is now a Paula Radcliffe situation: Despite all the sh*t, there’s still a race to finish.
