Swansea City confirmed yesterday that they had signed Freddie Woodman on loan for the season from Newcastle United, which might be considered a blow by those in the recruitment team at Celtic.
Chronicle Live had reported that the Bhoys and Arsenal were interested in the young goalkeeper this summer but he has instead decided to move to Wales and the Liberty Stadium.
Our current goalkeeper situation sees Scott Bain in goal with Craig Gordon pushing to try and get back into the side.
Gordon is not getting any younger, though, and it might well be the case he wants to move in a future window if he cannot force his way back into the team.
Another goalkeeper might have been ideal, then, but this suggests to me that the Hoops were perhaps not that bothered about getting this one done at all.
If Gordon was gone, maybe they’d have moved but that’s all conjecture now.
