According to Sky Sports, Paris St Germain have rejected a bid from Celtic for 20-year old left-back Mitchel Bakker.
The Hoops have targeted the Dutch youngster with the future of Boli Bolingoli looking increasingly fragile at Parkhead and have attempted to get him in on loan for the rest of the season.
Bakker played three times for PSG last season after arriving from Ajax and although the initial bid has been knocked back, Sky Sports understands that there is still a chance of a deal being done between the two sides.
Neil Lennon’s recruitment has been gathering pace of late and is now focussing on additional targets to supplement the champions with Charlton Athletic’s Alfie Doughty a target with Lee Bowyer confirming that they had rejected bid for the winger.
So far, he has achieved his key objective of holding onto his most important players whilst also being able to secure his top targets in each position except for between the sticks with Fraser Forster deciding to fight for his place at Southampton.
Celtic fans will be keen to see new boy Shane Duffy in the starting line-up at the weekend having captained his country during his side’s two Nations League fixtures, he will bring a physicality that can sometimes be missing from what is usually a difficult defence to break down.
Is left-back a priority position to upgrade?
With over a month of the transfer window still to go, Sky Sports claims that Lennon has made left-back a priority position with a central defender and a winger also on the list, considering he said that he only expected a couple of new faces, he must be enjoying being able to get Peter Lawwell’s cheque book out.
