According to Football Insider, Celtic have opened talks over a potential move for Tommy Smith to leave Huddersfield Town and join our club this summer.

The full-back was relegated last season from the Premier League with the Terriers and is their skipper with him being there for a good few years now.

However, it appears as though the chances of him extending that stay much longer are in the balance as the Bhoys are apparently looking to bring him in.

A solid right-back that is good in the challenge, he could well be the ideal person to come in and kick-on from where Mikael Lustig left off.

Both Lustig and Jeremy Toljan have left the side this summer and so we are short on that side of defence at the moment.

Getting someone in with solid Premier League experience would be a decent move from Neil Lennon, then, and it remains to be seen whether or not we manage to snap him up.
