The night of a European tie and we are still discussing the Dom McKay circus.

I’ll get onto the game later but the Celtic podcast Quality Street Gang has claimed that in order to suppress rumours and conjecture, the club leaked information to the press and contacted a selection of Celtic podcasters to put out twitter rumours that were escalating on Friday night.

The episode was hosted by Jack and Tom when Jack was discussing the McKay departure and said, “Of course the club have informally came out and leaked some stuff to the press. Stephen McGowan ran an article and so did Alison Conroy.

“And I listened to a couple of Celtic podcasts this week and they actually said they received a phone call from the club to sort of brief them to try and put out the twitter fires which were escalating very rapidly over the course of Friday night.

“And from what from what has been leaked from the club, we can ascertain from what they’ve said that it seems like they weren’t that impressed with work that Dom McKay’s doing.

“That could be the case. I mean, he might not have impressed them.

“And apparently there was issues with Dom getting transfers over the line. Is that really a surprise tho? You’re signing a CEO from the Scottish Rugby Union and who’s never worked in football transfer dealings before.

“And of course there’s been rumours as well about him refusing help from Peter Lawwell.”

Again, that’s all it is is rumours. There’s two sides to every story and we don’t want to speculate on it too much because we’ve not heard Dom McKay’s side of the story.”

It’s hardly surprising that the club made moves to get their side of the story out first as they would know the backlash they would receive from the fans if this recent club development affected the team or even Ange Postecoglou’s position.

It remains to be seen if there is a new man in the pipeline to take over from McKay. Watch this space.
