The racism row involving racist jokes aimed at Celtic players during the SFWA ceremony this week still rumbles on.

The allegation that a key note speaker had targeted the Hoops Japanese players with racist jokes remains under investigation(?) but there was also the accusation of misogynistic jokes that prompted Sky Sports presenter Eilidh Barbour and the rest of her table to walk out of the awards show in disgust.

A second table was alleged to have walked out and it was revealed in The Athletic exactly who the mystery protester was.

On Eilidh’s twitter feed Gabriella Bennet, co Chairman of Women in Journalism Scotland revealed that it was her table that walked out in disgust adding, “I was at these awards tonight and sat through the same sexist and racist jokes made by a keynote speaker.

“My table walked out at the same time Eilidh’s did.”

Ange Postecoglou was asked about the incidents and he said, “We’ve got to understand there are people in that room who have different values, different views, irrespective of that.

“There’s an opportunity there to learn, I think for all of us.

“I don’t think the organiser, they have come out and apologised, and I don’t think they did it with any harmful intent.

“But, you know, if they just focus on the controversy or trying to put it to one side, I think there’s a failure there to actually be better the next time.

“Understand it, talk to the people who were upset on the night and,  for me, I think again I’m in that space where I think we shouldn’t really be having those kind of moments.”

This is modern Scotland for you.
Racism, bigotry, mysogeny! Certain people exult in this type of behaviour and the country is full of clowns who encourage them, including some in authority.

  • Frankie says:

The named clown is nothing but a lowlife and should be charged for racist comments but as usual nothing will come of it through police Scotland other bigots. These players could show that clown honesty and manners.

  • Dinger says:

An answer to Hugh Kevin’s analysation of the word Ange Australian national genius extra ordinary

  • Magublican says:

Try not to watch Ricky Gervais because you may end up being too sensitive like Will Smith. And stay away from Seth’s Family Guy. Go sit with your leftist snowflakes and polish your protest signs for your next sensitive worry. Your whole life is based on apologies.

  • Magublican says:

Hahaha. Yeah right. Don’t bother moderating my comments. They will never be seen because the leftist world today has an agenda. If you don’t follow our narrative you will be dismissed. The same people who wanted Winston Churchills statue to be pulled down. Really? How stupid are you? If it wasn’t for him we’d all be speaking German and living a completely different life if one at all.

  • Sophie Johnstone says:

Once again Ange comes out with a tremendous comment, capturing the sentiments of decent people perfectly

  • tom OHalloran says:

Scottish football is full of such vile people who not only live in the last century but also believe that their opinion / humor is still supportive and welcomed

Need to disassociate with such people ASAP for the benefit of our great game

Religious as well as sexual injustice is totally unacceptable in today’s society both on and off the field

  • Eamonn Little says:
