The League Cup Final is only a matter of a couple of weeks away and already the pundits and journalists are speaking about who will start and who will be left out of the team for the game on the 26th of February.

With league duty still to be fulfilled between now and then, there is still a lot of football to be played before we can entertain any talk of the final.

But Roger Hannah did and he predicted that the team that started the match against St Johnstone on Sunday afternoon will be the one that lines up against our Glasgow rivals at Hampden.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Hannah said, “I thought they were good yesterday.

“There had been spells at Tannadice and the previous weekend and also the second half against Livingston in midweek where they weren’t at their best.

“I thought yesterday they were good. They were good going forward. Aaron Mooy has been outstanding.

“Six goals in nine games from that midfield area is terrific and if you’d said Matt O’Riley was no longer going to be a first pick you would hardly have believed that.

“But Mooy has gone in and made that shirt his own.

“You only need to through forward three weeks to the League Cup final, I think that’s probably Celtic’s League Cup final team, you saw yesterday.

“Maeda, Jota and Kyogo are your front three and they’re probably the first pick front three.

“And, as I say, Mooy has now ousted O’Riley in the middle of the park.”

I can understand that thinking if I am honest. The form Mooy is in the now he is practically undroppable.

However, O’Riley has started the last two Glasgow Derbies and he was outstanding in the 4-0 win at Celtic Park.

Does he deserve a place in the bench just as much as Mooy deserves a starting place.

It’s a great choice to have and I would rather have that option than not.
