Celtic have turned down an approach from Southampton for England goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

The bid from the Saints for the 26-year-old was described as ‘derisory’ and
well-below the widely reported £7.5m amount.

The Hoops originally signed Forster for £2m on a four-year deal from Newcastle United in 2012. He has since earned two full international caps.

Last season the big Englishman broke the Scottish league record for minutes without conceding a goal.

However, former Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon recently moved to Parkhead amid constant rumours of Forster heading back across the border.
