Celtic are tracking Werder Bremen forward Lennart Thy, according to 90min.de.

The German website reports that we sent scouts to watch the player in action for VVV Venlo against FC Twente at the weekend.

He is currently on loan at the Eredivisie club, and played the full 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw yesterday afternoon.

This season, the 26 year old has scored eights goals in all competitions, providing seven assists. VVV are reportedly keen to keep the player on a permanent basis once his loan spell ends but the player is likely to return to Germany to consider his options.

The former Germany Under 20 international has never been a prolific goalscorer at senior level, but he has able to play in a number of positions. He has played as an attacking midfielder, as a winger, and even as a full back when he played for Bundesliga 2 side St Pauli.

His positional flexibility, combined with the fact he will have just twelve months left on his contract in the summer, may have attracted the club’s attention. Whether there is any substance to this rumour, we’ll have to wait and see.
