Celtic have sealed their first summer rebuild signing.  Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, Liam Shaw, has reportedly agreed a pre contract with the Hoops today and Celtic will pay a cross border fee similar to the same deal that brought Moussa Dembele to Paradise.

The fee is thought to be in the region of £300,000.  Sheffield Wednesday were keen to get the young 19 year old to extend his stay but The Owls couldn’t convince the versatile midfielder to sign a new deal and Celtic swooped to sign the young midfielder.

Shaw has been with The Owls since he was a young eight year old kid and signed his first professional contract with the club in December 2018.  In season 2019/20 he made just two appearances for Sheffield Wednesday and then he was loaned out to Chesterfield, but that deal only lasted a month after just five appearances for the club.

So far this season Shaw has made fifteen appearances for Wednesday and scored one goal. Shaw is a versatile player, with his main position in the centre of midfield but he can also slot into the heart of defence and will no doubt become an asset to the Celtic squad.  Shaw has shown his versatility already this season as he has been involved in Wednesdays starting eleven ten times as a central midfielder and five as a central defender.

His only goal of the season came against Middlesbrough where he netted The Owls second in what turned out to be the winner in a 2-1 over The Riverside Championship club.
