According to the Bristol Post, Bristol City beat Celtic in the race to sign Tomas Kalas from Chelsea on a permanent this summer.

The defender was very impressive last season for the Robins as he and Adam Webster formed a strong partnership at the heart of defence.

Certainly, it would have been nice to see Kalas come up north to feature for us in the coming campaign but it is clear that we have been beaten to the punch by the Championship side.

Celtic certainly need new defenders this summer.

The likes of Dedryck Boyata, Filip Benkovic, Mikael Lustig and Jeremy Toljan have all left and it is clear we are short at the back at the moment.

Kalas will not be providing us with his services this season coming, though, and so Neil Lennon will want to look at other targets – with Christopher Jullien at least one that will be able to come in and help after being confirmed earlier today.
