Over the course of recent weeks, the Scottish Champions have been named as one of several teams who are interested in the services of Hibernian’s John McGinn. Brendan Rodgers should make his move for the Scottish starlet.

According to the Daily Record, Celtic, Rangers and Aston Villa are all interested in signing Hibernian’s talented midfielder, John McGinn. It is believed that Celtic’s divisional rivals, Hibernian, will be willing to allow the 23-year-old to depart if they receive a £5M offer.

Since joining Hibernian from St Mirren in 2015, the Scottish midfielder has established himself as one of Neil Lennon’s most significant players. To date, he has amassed 132 appearances for Hibs, scoring a decent total of 16 goals.

McGinn was especially impressive last season for Hibernian.  Over the duration of the entire season, the Scotsman contributed towards 14 goals 43 appearances – scoring six and registering an impressive tally of eight assists.

Having played in the Scottish Premiership for the majority of his career, it’s evident that the midfielder is at home in the division, where he can display his magnificent qualities on a continuous basis.

In addition to his impressive attacking contributions, McGinn is lauded for his tactical flexibility. The 23-year-old is at his best when positioned at the heart of midfield, but he can also operate competently as a defensive midfielder or on the left side of the pitch.

As Eboue Kouassi can testify, Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham have formed a formidable partnership at the heart of the Celtic midfield. That said, Brown is beginning to approach the latter stages of his career, and he failed to score a single goal last season. The addition of McGinn could provide the Champions with greater depth in midfield and priceless competition that could elevate the performances of Brendan Rodgers’ midfielders.
