According to the Daily Record, cross-city rivals Rangers are looking into trying to sign Lewis Holtby at the end of the season with him out of contract with Hamburg.
The German midfielder is probably a familiar name to many of us as he was once in the Premier League with Tottenham.
He showed some good stuff, too, but ultimately probably wasn’t consistent enough to really play at the highest of levels.
However, he still has good quality and Celtic must consider getting him for next to nothing ahead of the Gers.
He gets on the ball in the final third and can travel well with it, creating chances and causing issues for opposing players.
We have some footballers like that at the club already, too, but I do wonder whether or not we really have the depth right now to challenge properly in Europe as well.
With the injuries we’ve had as well, it might be worth considering Holtby as a real option.
