“Why is that? Well, how can a player concentrate on his job while standing there wondering: ‘What’s coming at me next? I’ve had coins, pies, bottles – is it going to be a dart next?’ You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t think that way.
“Also, if indeed the referee did tell Barrie McKay that stewards were in place [to deal with the issue], then clearly these stewards weren’t doing their jobs.”
Now before I start. The fans that threw those objects at McKay are bang out of order.
They should be found and banned from Celtic Park for life. It was idiotic and dangerous.
Now that is out of the way, Deans seems to have a very short memory. Has he forgotten when former Celtic manager Neil Lennon was attacked at Tynecastle?
Or when ex Celtic forward Scott Sinclair was targeted with a punch when he wheeled away to celebrate scoring the winner at Tyncastle on the opening day of the 2016/17 season?
Were claims of replaying the match heralded on both those occasions?
Of course not.
Celtic, like all clubs in the SPFL, have been on the wrong end of footballing decisions for years. And the Supporters Liaison Officer sent out a class tweet in reference to that:
Fixture Update:
Looks like we're going to have a fixture pile up due to all the games being replayed for incorrect decisions against us in recent seasons 😂🍀— CELTIC FC SLO (@CelticFCSLO) December 7, 2021
Wrong decisions happen to all clubs but no club has ever asked for points to be awarded or fixtures to be replayed because of them.
Deans should have kept his powder dry as he left himself open to ridicule.
It’s something I suppose but still a very weak answer to these horrible bigots
Did we ask for the first game of the season to be replayed when we had a good goal chalked off and Halliday being let off with assault??? Sit the fuck down you doddery old dick!!!
