Celtic star James Forrest has given an insight into how Neil Lennon reacted to last week’s goalless draw away to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

Three of Lennon’s nine games in charge since taking over in February have resulted in 0-0 draws, frustrating many fans who feel like standards have dipped since Brendan Rodgers’ departure to Leicester City.

Lennon though is clearly trying to drum into his players that they need to hit a higher standard if they want to secure a famous ‘treble treble.’

Forrest has hinted he was absolutely furious in the wake of the Easter Road trip.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the dynamite winger said:

It doesn’t matter what manager it is, the last two games haven’t been good enough and he’s told us that.

Having worked with him before and now he’s back, you can see he has mellowed a bit. He has said that himself, now he’s older and has more experience.

But that hunger is still there and he still demands performances in training and games. I think he reminded us last weekend he hasn’t mellowed that much!

He has standards and if he’s not getting them he’ll let the boys know. But the lads will tell you ourselves as well, we didn’t do well enough at Hibs.

The last two games in the league have been 0-0 draws and we haven’t done enough in either game to get the win. So on Saturday we have to go out and put on a performance for the three points.

A win against Kilmarnock tomorrow will mean we are just one point away from winning an eighth league title in a row, with every chance Rangers could drop points against Aberdeen on Sunday and hand us the trophy.

It may have taken a bit longer than expected, but the finishing line is in sight and we must raise our game to ensure there are no more hiccups, or things will start to get a little nervous when we face the Dons and the Gers away from home.

Hopefully Lennon’s furious message will fire up the players.

Will we beat Kilmarnock at Celtic Park tomorrow? What’s your score prediction? Have your say below…

  • Lennon should be examining his own motivation of the team or lack of it to be honest as it’s only since he took over that they are sagging.

  • As for the string of players telling us what a great guy Lennon is, well you would wouln’t you if your place in the team was at stake.
