Celtic star makes revelation about squad’s preferred managerial option this summer

|

Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic believes the Hoops first-team squad wants Neil Lennon to stay in charge of the team heading into next season, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Speculation on the future of Lennon and the permanent managerial position at Celtic Park has been rife in recent weeks, with fans unsure whether or not the 47-year-old is the best man to lead the club going forward.

He was appointed until the end of the season in the wake of Brendan Rodgers’ departure but Simunovic left no-one in any doubt yesterday what he thinks about who should get the job on a permanent basis.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the 24-year-old said:

Things are going really well. It is all good. It’s not just me, I think the other players want it to happen too.

But there are some things the players can’t decide, that is for others. But I would say all players are happy at the moment with the coaching staff.

Simunovic was in excellent form during the 3-0 Scottish Cup semi-final win against Aberdeen on Sunday, clearly playing with confidence and passion for the Hoops, as were many of his teammates.

It was undoubtedly the best team performance since Lennon was appointed and bodes well for the future if indeed the former club captain is announced as the permanent replacement for Rodgers.

The manager is so far undefeated since taking charge and is on the brink of delivering another league title and a potential treble of trophies.

As job interviews go, he could be doing a lot worse.
