Celtic’s new striker Holmbert Fridjonsson is understandably keen to make a big impression at Parkhead.

“It will help that I didn’t come with a big fee and there isn’t as much expectation” – Holmbert Fridjonsson

The Icelandic under-21 international agreed a pre-contract from Fram Reykjavik last month and becomes available for selection in January.

Fridjonsson, 20, arrives for a cut-price £100,000 and believes that modest fee can really work to his advantage.

“It will help that I didn’t come with a big fee and there isn’t as much expectation,” he told the Daily Record. “Hopefully I can score goals because as a striker I am paid to do that. I have personal targets but I would prefer to keep them to myself.

“My strengths are that I am good in the air and hold the ball up well,” Fridjonsson added. “I’m also very good in and around the box. I will create for the team but hopefully I will score more goals.”
