Brendan Rodgers has announced his Celtic team for tonight’s encounter with AEK Athens in Greece.

Tied 1-1 from the first leg, the Hoops know they must score at least one goal if they are to progress into the next round and need to take the game to the home side.

The big surprise is Odsonne Edouard’s omission, with Leigh Griffiths starting up front instead.

We’ll likely hear from Rodgers soon as to why that is, but given he is also not on the bench, he is likely injured.

As announced by UEFA, tonight’s full team is:

Starting XI: Craig Gordon, Mikael Lustig, Jozo Simunovic, Jack Hendry, Kieran Tierney, James Forrest, Callum McGregor, Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham, Tom Rogic, Leigh Griffiths.

Substitutes: Scott Bain, Moussa Dembele, Scott Sinclair, Cristian Gamboa, Jonny Hayes, Mikey Johnston, Eboue Kouassi.

After a difficult week, getting a result tonight could change the perception of everything currently going on at Celtic Park. It’s definitely one of the biggest matches for the club since Brendan Rodgers took charge in 2016.

There is no doubting we are up against it this evening, but we have the quality to secure a result and if we play with no fear and assert ourselves, it’s AEK Athens who could be in for a rough night.

Do you think Celtic will get the required result tonight? Let us know in the comments…
