Teenage winger James Forrest has signed a new five-year deal with Celtic.
“I`m just glad to get the contract signed now and out of the way and I can concentrate on getting back in the team, and winning the league” – James Forrest |
The 19-year-old was already under contract until 2013 after originally progressing through the club’s Youth Academy. However, the Scottish Under-21 international is viewed as such an outstanding prospect that this has now been extended until 2016.
Forrest has scored three times in thirteen appearances this season, including the opener in the resounding midweek 4-0 triumph against Hearts, and was previously named as Scottish Premier young player of the month in August.
“I was pleased to get my debut at the end of last season but I never thought it would have gone as well as it has this season,” Forrest told Celtic’s official website. “I had a good pre-season and I showed the coaches what I could do.
