Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been handed a six-game ban following a hearing of the SFA`s Disciplinary Committee at Hampden Park.
“We are very surprised and extremely disappointed at today’s decision. Without question Celtic will be supporting its manager Neil Lennon in his appeal” – Celtic FC |
That comes as a result of his sending-off by referee Craig Thomson in the defeat at Hearts last November.
The suspension is set to commence from 18th January, although his club has already confirmed it will be appealing against the decision.
“Celtic and Neil Lennon confirmed today that they will be appealing today’s decision by the SFA Disciplinary Committee to impose a six-match touchline ban,” read a statement issued on Celtic’s official website.
“The matter is in the hands of the club’s lawyers. We are very surprised and extremely disappointed at today’s decision – we believe the punishment imposed was excessive in the circumstances and to our knowledge unprecedented for a first offence.
