Celtic’s transfer business has really ramped up this week.

With the club confirming the signing of Yuki Kobayashi on a five-year deal this afternoon, it does look like Ange is ramping up his winter recruitment after this latest report from the Daily Record.

According to the report, Canadian right back, Alistair Johnston is wanted by Ange Postecoglou as a possible replacement for Josip Juranovic after he ‘impressed’ the Celtic gaffer.

Obviously, this all depends on whether or not the Croatian international pens a new deal or not, but all signs do seem to be pointing to the club being resigned to losing him after the World Cup.

So that leaves Ange Postecoglou looking for another man to come in and offer competition to Anthony Ralston.

Johnston currently plays for Montreal in the MLS and appeared for the club thirty-nine times last season.

He made his breakthrough in football in Canada when he signed for League One side Vaugn Azzuri in the Canadian Championship where he spent four years from 2015.

In 2020 he was selected in the MLS draft by Nashville SC [CBA] where he spent a season before moving to Montreal.

Johnston has no silverware to his name as yet but, if this move comes to fruition, that could all change should be become Ange Postecoglou’s second winter signing.

Johnston has been capped 30 times by Canada and starred in the 1-0 loss to Belgium in the Qatar World Cup.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
