John McGinn has been left out of Hibernian’s UEFA Europa League squad for tonight’s qualifier at home to Faroese club NSI Runavik, after heavy speculation he could be on his way to Celtic Park this summer.

The Hoops have had two bids for the player rejected by the Leith outfit, but clearly the situation with the midfielder is ongoing if Neil Lennon has decided to omit him from tonight’s action.

The former Celtic boss admitted to The Daily Record this week that the speculation has been unsettling for the player and not easy for the midfielder to deal with, another sign that he is seeking a move away from Easter Road.

Hibs are thought to value the Scotland international at around £3m, with just a year remaining on his contract.

Being omitted from this evening’s action, he isn’t even on the bench, means he is now not cup tied for future qualifiers this summer should Celtic decide to bite the bullet on his signature and make a third bid.

If he plays in the return leg, he wouldn’t be able to feature for Brendan Rodgers’ side until the group stages.
