One “done” three to go as Lennon is let loose with Lawwell’s chequebook

|

A report in Football Insider claims that Celtic’s squad could be about to swell in number with the news that as many as four signings could be made this week.

The rumour mill at the beginning of the window centred around departures from Parkhead, however, in subsequent weeks there has been almost a daily report featuring potential new arrivals.

This week alone has seen David Turnbull all but announced as well as Shane Duffy dropping hints every time he switches his phone on about his next destination, there has also been two long-term “targets” re-emerge.

Aaron Hickey is said to have rejected a move to newly crowned European champions, Bayern Munich, and looks set to put pen to paper on a return to Celtic but the biggest shock is the potential arrival of Caleb Ekuban.

Reports in Turkey claim that a £7.2million fee has been agreed – as have personal terms – with the striker said to be on his way to Glasgow over the next few days, Peter Lawwell must’ve left the cheque book lying about Neil Lennon’s office.

Although each player might not immediately go straight into the starting XI, there is no doubt that they all strengthen the squad, one that was already significantly better than any other in the country.

Should the SPFL just hand Celtic the title if the four new signings arrive?

Yes

No

No

The prospect of having a striker department costing in the region of £25m is sure to excite Hoops fans across the country and would appear to reaffirm the gaffer’s approach of “goals win games”.

Keeping a hold of key players has always been a priority and if the new recruits are still lining up alongside the likes of Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard when the window shuts, the first step on the road to “10” will well and truly have been taken.
