Celtic meet one of the favourites Bayern Munich this evening in their latest Champions League Group B fixture at Celtic Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

On loan winger Patrick Roberts was expected to miss out after sustaining a hamstring problem during the record-equalling weekend draw with Kilmanock.

Skipper Scott Brown is, though, set to return having been rested for that game along with Dedryck Boyata and James Forrest. But defensive pair Jozo Simunovic and Eric Sviatchenko are still unavailable.

“They are a talented team that has been put together to win this competition, so we know the magnitude of the test,” manager Brendan Rodgers told BBC Scotland. “It’s always going to be difficult in terms of where we are domestically, in terms of making that jump, but we always have to find a way. We can’t just accept it.

“We’re playing at home and we always love to play here with the backing of the support,” he added.

Bayern are notably without Polish striker Robert Lewandowski after suffering a knock in their weekend victory against RB Leipzig.

Thomas Muller began the scoring in the earlier 3-0 success against Celtic a fortnight ago and is similarly ruled out due to a thigh injury.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and winger Franck Ribery were already long-term casualties for the visitors, but defender Javi Martinez and striker Kingsley Coman return.
