Celtic are hosting Kilmarnock in the League Cup second round this evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Hoops are missing suspended skipper Scott Brown due to punishment carried over from last season’s competition.

Otherwise, central defenders Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko remain sidelined with knee problems alongside striker Moussa Dembele (hamstring).

“They are going to pose a threat on counter-attack – you can see they’ve got some players with some quality that an be fast in that transition moment,” Celtic assistant-manager Chris Davies told BBC Scotland. “They’re in the Premiership so will bring a certain level of quality and a bit of experience they’ve brought in as well.

“We’re hopefully going to dominate, and look to try and break them down, and when we can get that first goal it should set us up.”

Killie are minus both skipper Stevie Smith (groin) and midfielder Gary Dicker (stomach), in addition to longer-term casualty Greg Kiltie (ankle).
