Do you know what amazes me? The minute there is a sniff of a negative bit of news about Celtic the media and pundits are all over it like a rash.

Juranovic. No new deal? He’s off.

Giakoumakis. No contract agreed? He’s unhappy and he’s off.

The media in this country simply cannot help themselves. Neither can the pundits.

And next up is Tam McManus.

Famed for his work on PLZ Soccer, the former Hibs man was giving his opinion on the Croatian defender when he came up with this.

Speaking to Football Insider, McManus said, “I thought Juranovic was poor against Canada.

“He was up against Alphonso Davies at times and to be fair, for me, he is one of the best players in the world.

“Defensively he was poor and obviously you have Johnston on the other side who played really, really well, impressive performance. He showed he could be a very good player for Celtic.

“He suits Ange’s style, he was very good going forward and very aggressive in the press. If Celtic were to sign him and get rid of Juranovic, that’s a sensible move.

“I think either way Celtic will be looking to cash in on Juranovic. He is too inconsistent and they need to improve in that area.

“Looking at the World Cup, you would have to say that Johnston is an upgrade.”

Now in some ways McManus does have a point.

Juranovic has been caught out defensively in Europe and there are some in the Celtic circles, like friend of the site Russell Boyce, who wouldn’t be to upset if he left in January.

He is also inconsistent and can blow hot and cold at times.

Maybe his head was turned in the summer when interest was first reported.

Whichever way it goes, at we know one thing. We will make a healthy profit on an experienced international defender that cost us less than £3m just over a year ago and that is great business.

Celtic hold the record for most Scottish Cup Final wins. Who scored the winners in these TEN finals?
