Celtic will have to fight off more than a dozen clubs to land Lennon transfer target

|

Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas is wanted by more than a dozen clubs this summer, putting Celtic’s potential move for him in doubt, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The paper reported over the weekend that the Hoops had watched the Czech international in action recently, with the player currently on loan at Bristol City in the English Championship.

Neil Lennon is said to be a fan of the player and has placed him on a list of stars that the Hoops should target in the close season.

However, latest reports suggest that not only do Bristol City want to keep the centre-back next season, but that over a dozen clubs could be interested in signing him from Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.

Bristol are currently chasing promotion from the English second-tier and any move for Kalas could hinge on whether that bid is successful or not, with the riches of the Premier League likely to rule Celtic out of any move.

The Hoops badly need quality central defenders this summer with Filip Benkovic heading back to Leicester City and Dedryck Boyata’s contract set to expire.

Kalas would be a viable option, but can we compete with the unnamed clubs eager to sign him up?
