Celtic’s teenage winger James Forrest is gradually closing in on a return to action. Forrest has been out of contention since suffering a knee injury during the 3-0 victory over Hearts in September.

“There`s a few good players who can play on the wing too, but hopefully once I`m back I can show I`m the player to fill that role permanently” – James Forrest

And while he hasn’t yet rejoined his team-mates for training, he has been keeping himself in shape by running regularly.

“The last three weeks I`ve been running pain-free,” Forrest told Celtic’s official website. “So hopefully I can kick on now without any reaction.

“I want to get back into the side as soon as possible,” he continued. “There`s a few good players who can play on the wing too, but hopefully once I`m back I can show I`m the player to fill that role permanently.

“I like to take on defenders because I`m an out-and-out winger so hopefully the manager thinks I can offer something different to the side and give me a chance again.”
