Celtic host Zenit St Petersburg in their Europa League round of 32 first-leg at Celtic Park on Thursday evening (kick-off 8.05pm).

Midfielder Tom Rogic is still recovering sharpness following a knee injury keeping him sidelined for the previous couple of months. He was an unused substitute for the weekend Scottish Cup triumph against Partick Thistle and is currently around a week away from a recall.

The Hoops are also missing a number of other key players, with Patrick Roberts, Stuart Armstrong, Jonny Hayes, Craig Gordon, Marvin Compper, Leigh Griffiths and Dedryck Boyata ruled out.

That could allow a European debut for recent defensive signing from Dundee, Jack Hendry, 22.

“We’ve got confidence in Jack that he can play – that’s why we signed him. He can play at this level,” assiatant manager Chris Davies told SkySports. “Of course the more games he plays at European level, the more he will develop. But we have a lot of faith in what he can do and we’ll see what that means for the team selection.”

Former Chelsea centre-back Branislav Ivanovic is struggling to recover from an eye injury for the visitors.
