During Martin O’Neill’s tenure at Celtic he brought in a wonderful array of talent over his five years at the club.

The Northern Irishman certainly had an eye for a player and signed the likes of Chris Sutton, John Hartson, Alan Thompson and Neil Lennon.

His strike rate in the transfer market is akin to current boss, Ange Postecoglou.

But it was one talent that was already at the club who Chris Sutton thought that O’Neill would be getting rid of in his first season.

Speaking on the Currie Club podcast, Sutton said, “Moravcik, Jackie [MacNamara] said Martin wasn’t sure about him.

“I always thought in pre-season Lubo, who doesn’t run a lot, I always thought ‘He’s off, Martin’s not going to have him‘.

“But Martin, throughout his whole management career, always loved a maverick and he eventually began to trust him.

“I had never heard of Lubo before I came to Celtic.”

Moravcik was a wonderful talent at Celtic.

And to be fair to Chris, no Celtic fan had ever heard of him either before Dr Jo Venglos brought him to the club in a deal that looks now, like daylight robbery.

We all remember the comments from Hugh Keevins when Moravcik signed for Celtic and Vital Celtic reported back in 2021 that the fee was nowhere near the £300k that was reported Celtic spent on the Slovakian.
Moravcik will always go down as a legend amongst the Celtic fans for the way he entertained us. We will not see his likes again.

Dear Paddy Sinat…the Western Scottish man

Cut out “The Northern Irishman” nonsense. He’s IRISH, plain and simple. Your description of MON only seeks to endorse partition on the Island of Ireland.

I refer to all football player’s nationality to the country they played for, Mr Keevins. Plus he was born in Northern Ireland so please stop trying to seek offence where there is none.
