Few clubs in Europe have a history that can compare with Celtic’s. The Hoops have been dominant for years, particularly on home turf but also abroad.
The Champions League is, still, a competition that you can’t mention without drawing attention to Celtic, and though we haven’t had much luck in the cup lately, you can’t take our history away from us.
Many a classic European night have been had over the years, but few were better than our tie with Juventus back in 2001. A 4-3 thriller, we came out on the winning side that night thanks to goals from a couple of Celtic heroes.
Joos Valgaeren, Chris Sutton and Henrik Larsson all got on the scoresheet on the night, and BT Sport recently shared a video of the game online.
OTD in 2001, Celtic beat Juventus 4-3 in a thriller at Paradise…

In response, BT Pundit and goalscorer Chris Sutton has responded to the message on Twitter. ‘Those were the days’, he said, with the former forward clearly reminiscing on happy times in our famous green and white shirt.

Sutton, like Celtic in Europe, is a name that is constantly associated with the club, and the reason for that was as seen above – so many classic moments in classic games. We’re wondering whether he’d still be able to lace up his boots and put in a shift at Celtic Park.
We’re hoping to bring more of these nights to Celtic Park sooner, rather than later. Maybe next year will be our year.
Thoughts?
