Celtic didn’t get the result that fans wanted on Thursday evening, but there’s still a lot to celebrate at Parkhead. Indeed, our domestic form is fantastic, and we certainly didn’t embarrass ourselves on the European stage. We were handed a tough draw, and we gave a good account of ourselves.

Rival fans may look at both results and say that we weren’t good enough, but those who watched the game know the real story, and former Celt Chris Sutton has said it better than anyone else over on Twitter.

Reflecting on the game, Sutton said: ‘Celtic gutsy until the end. Out of Europe Valencia 1-0 Celtic…Pride, desire and passion for the shirt tonight’.

Pride, desire and passion – the three words that perfectly sum up Celtic’s display.

Sure, we might have lacked a bit of quality, and our finishing might not have been perfect, but you certainly can’t fault the effort and desire on display amongst those Celtic players.

If they play with even half of that desire for the rest of the season, we’ll still have a lot to celebrate before the summer.
