There have again been multiple reports this week that Scott Brown could be on the verge of leaving Celtic, after one potential buying club had their league status in Australia next year confirmed.

The Scottish Sun were one such outlet, reporting that Western Melbourne are set to offer the Hoops midfielder a three-year deal to make the move across continents, after being granted an A-League licence.

They also believe MLS sides like Sporting Kansas City and Minnesota United are interested in his services, with his contract set to expire at the end of this season.

The player has revealed previously he has held talks with the Hoops about extending his stay in Glasgow, but reports suggest that he is yet to receive a concrete offer from any side, including Celtic.

After 11 years and 17 trophies it seems that Brown is at something of a crossroads with regards to his Hoops career.

The 33-year-old has been at the heart of Celtic sides throughout a period of almost unprecedented success and you’d imagine walking away from that isn’t so easy.

The Hoops though don’t exactly seem in a rush to tie him down to a new contract, instead giving him the time and space to consider all his options. Is that the wrong strategy?

In my eyes it’s far too early to be talking about Brown’s exit from the club and we should be doing more to convince him his future still lies in Glasgow.

Nobody is under the impression that he can maintain his excellent form for the next half decade but he has a season or two beyond this one in him yet and his personality and leadership skills have been a key part of our multiple trophy wins in recent years.

Hopefully renewed interest from abroad gives the club a jolt and we can be talking about the next few years of Scott Brown in a Celtic shirt, rather than talking about his imminent departure.
