There was a strange reaction to Celtic’s win over Aberdeen on Sunday.

At half-time, most fans and pundits were being wowed at the team’s flowing football where they seemed to carve open the Dons at will.

Then came the second half, and even though the Hoops were under no serious threat, it was suggested by BBC reporter Chick Young that the game seemed to ‘slip away‘ from Ange Postecoglou’s men.

But one pundit doesn’t seem to be too concerned about that.

This particular pundit was very impressed with what he saw from Celtic on Sunday and fired a warning to the rest of the SPFL teams about the season ahead when they face the defending champions.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Marvin Bartley said, “I think after the match there are parts of the game that he [Postecoglou] wasn’t happy with at all in terms of how a Celtic team performed.

“But if that’s the rusty Celtic, then the league’s got a lot to worry about.

“They missed a couple of gilt-edged chances that you imagined two or three weeks they’ll definitely be taken.

“I thought Aberdeen actually did well in the game, and that’s probably the worrying thing.

“It was only two nil and I’m coming here and saying Aberdeen played well, but I think if you’re a Celtic fan should be extremely excited about the season that’s coming.

“Maybe one or two more players to come in from the transfer window also but Celtic are looking extremely strong.”

And Bartley has nailed it.

Without really getting out of second gear, Celtic brushed aside a team that is expected to challenge in the top four positions of the league.

Just imagine what the team will do when they are firing on all cylinders and have brushed away the early season rust.

I think this will be a very exciting season for the fans.
