Israel defender Rami Gershon has agreed a six-month loan deal with Scottish champions Celtic, according to his agent.

The Standard Liege centre-back flew into Glasgow for talks over a possible move on Friday.

His agent Dudu Dahan has since claimed a transfer has been agreed between both parties subject to work permit issues, and Gershon appears set to join Celtic’s training camp in Marbella. He is also believed to have the option of a three-year contract at the end of his loan.

The 24-year-old spent most of last year on loan to Liege’s Belgian rivals Kortrijk and would appear lined up to fill the void caused by Hoops defender Efe Ambrose’s involvement in the African Nations Cup with Nigeria.
